A bridge spanning National Route 417 in Ibi River Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. With the opening of a bypass due to the construction of new tunnels and bridges, the Shinkawajiri Bridge (the old bridge), built in 1961, has completed its 60-year service and was dismantled using blasting techniques. - Structure: Steel Langer Bridge - Bridge Length: 136.7 m - Width: 5.5 m - Weight: 223 tons On both sides of the bridge, steel components were cut using a V-shaped blasting line and dropped directly onto a work platform created on the riverbed of the Ibi River, facilitating a safe mechanical dismantling process on the ground. A bridge spanning National Route 417 in Ibigawa Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. Following the collapse of the steel girder bridge in the superstructure, blasting methods were also adopted for the dismantling of the bridge pier in the substructure. - Structure: Reinforced concrete (thickness 40 cm, hollow cross-section) - External dimensions: 9 m × 4 m × height 21.6 m By blasting and crushing the base of the bridge pier into a wedge shape, the pier is made to topple onto the work floor, facilitating a safe mechanical dismantling process on the ground.
